Donald Morse

Donald Bruce Morse, 78, of Lake Nebagamon and Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Duluth, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in Iron River, WI. Donald was born on August 4, 1939 in Duluth to Floyd and Virginia (Haskins) Morse. He attended Arnold School, Central High School, UMD and UWS. Donald served in the US Army and retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air National Guard in Duluth. Donald was a self employed contractor in Duluth, building many houses and the Mount Royal Alpines apartment buildings. Donald previously worked as the food coordinator for UWS and the Duluth Public Schools. Donald was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon, the Blessed Nuno Society, Elk’s Club, and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, boating, reading and golfing at Norwood Golf Course in Lake Nebagamon. He was very proud of his family and will be deeply missed.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Ann(Leonard) Morse; a son, Pete Morse; a brother-in-law, Lloyd LeBlanc and a sister-in-law, Ione Morse.

He is survived by his children, Bonnie Boman of Duluth, Kay (Steve) Contos of Duluth, Larry (Nan) Morse of Duluth, Nicholas (Samantha) Morse of Woodbury, MN, Ashley (Leathia Miller) Morse of Portland, OR, Benjamin (Danielle) Morse of Duluth, Ana Morse of St. Cloud, MN, and Molly Morse of Duluth; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Wallace Morse of Duluth, Jane LeBlanc of Duluth, Tom (Eunice) Morse of Isanti, MN, Jean (Terry) Moen of Summerfield, FL, and Douglas (Gerry) Morse of Las Vegas; Donald’s significant other, Joan Sjogren of Punta Gorda, FL; many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2017 in the Dougherty Funeral Home and will continue Tuesday from 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 East 4th Street. Rev Fr.  Jeremy Bock officiating. Burial with Military Honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Memorials to the Blessed Nuno Society would be appreciated. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.
