Doris A. Oberg, a lifelong resident of Duluth, passed away on Tuesday September 9, 2014 at the age of 91. She was born on August 29, 1923 to Sam and Lydia Linnell. Doris lived her life to the fullest and always enjoyed laughter with family and friends. She could tell us about penny candy and nickle Coke, riding the streetcar, listening to the Guiding Light on the radio, singing along with Bing Crosby, hanging the wash outside to dry, 3 channels of T.V., and so much more. Her 8 grandchildren were fascinated by her past experiences and her 9 great-grandchildren will miss hearing her personal stories and opinions. She would laugh at the memories and be amazed by the changes she had lived to see. Her days of gardening, baking, square dancing, camping and entertaining may have come to an end, however the memories of her life will remain in our hearts. The family thanks the staff at Norris Square in Cottage Grove for the kind and affectionate care. Doris was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
Although her journey here has ended she will reunite with those that passed before her including her husband of 61 years, Carl "Bill" Oberg Jr., sister Lydia Hals, son-in-law Rudy (Susan) Wahlsten, and grandson Scott Sathers.
She was a devoted mother and will be deeply missed by her daughters Linnell (Bill) Sathers and Susan Wahlsten, and her son Craig (Susan) Oberg, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Signe (Wayne) Boysen, nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 12, 2014 from 10AM until the 11AM Funeral Service in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. 1325 N. 45th Ave East, Duluth, 55804. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
