Doris Marie Tarnowski,(Bushi), wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend; 84 of Duluth, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at her home, in the Lighthouse of Superior. She was born on Feb. 9, 1929 in Duluth, MN to William and Myrtle (Doyle) John. Doris was a Denfeld High School graduate and then was employed as a teller at First American Bank, then a secretary at the Duluth Public School until her retirement.
Doris married Earl Tarnowski on Oct. 17, 1953 in Duluth, MN. She was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, the Elks Club, Miller Creek Manor Association Board. Some of her hobbies included sewing and crocheting. Spending time with her family was her main focus in life.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents William and Myrtle John; husband Earl; four brothers Bill, Ralph, Bob, Lloyd; daughter Barbara Jane.
Survivors include her children, Philip (Therese); Paula Dunning; Matthew; David (Darla); Sarah (Jim) Parks; Mary (David) Willemarck; her brother, Dick John; her grandchildren, Pat Tarnowski, Tim (Leah) Sarko , Ben (Kelly) Dunning, Emily Dunning, Rose Dunning, Alex Dunning, Ethan Tarnowski, Nathan Tarnowski, Nick Hietala, Drew, Brock, Josh and Justin Parks, Leslie and Nick Willemarck, Ben (Michelle) Johnson, Emily (Josh) Whitebird, great grandsons, Trenton Dunning and Evan Sarko, great grand daughters Emma Parks, Lily and Anissa Whitebird.
The family would like to thank the staff of Betty's Harbor at the Lighthouse, for their love, support, and special care of our mother.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Tuesday December 17, 2013 in the Dougherty Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 9:00 AM until the 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Duluth.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
