Dorothy Eilene Braun of Hermantownpassed away at Solvay Hospice in Duluthon April 5th. 2012.Dorothy was born on June 8, 1925 inLakewood Township, the daughter ofSig and Ragna Monson.Dorothy was a 1943 graduate ofCentral High School and was a soloist withthe Central Service Orchestra and alsowrote a school song.Dorothy worked for her Dad (Sig) at StateFarm Insurance Company in Duluth.She married William (Bill) Braun on June19th, 1948 after his return from the Navy in WW II. Between 1965 & 1994, Dorothyand Bill lived in several different states dueto Bills employment transfers with AtlasCement Co. and Allis Chalmers Corp.Dorothy was a very good stay-at-homemother to their two sons, Craig andSteven. She was also active in the SeawayChapter of the Order of the Eastern Starand rose to Assistant Matron beforemoving from the area.Dorothy enjoyed craftwork andembryrodered many sweatshirts for friends,making clothing for the children in the ShrinersHospital for Children, needlepoint work androsemaling painting. She greatly enjoyedplaying piano and organ at family gatherings.Dorothy also enjoyed traveling the countryin their motorhome and being with othertravelers at camp-outs in Motorhome Clubs.Dorothy was preceded in death by herparents, six brothers, one sister and her sonCraig. Surviving Dorothy is her husband Bill,her son Steven and daughter-in-lawDeborah, and grandson, Jason Braun.Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in the Park Hill Cemetery Chapel, 2500 Vermilion Road. Visitation one hour prior to the funeral in the chapel. Interment in Park Hill Cemetery.Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth 727-3555.
