Dorraine Ahl

Dorraine A. Ahl, age 88, of Duluth, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Essentia St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.

Dorraine Anne Weiss was born March 4, 1925 in St. Paul, Minnesota the daughter of Bernard and Gertrude (Weber) Weiss. She grew up in St. Paul where she graduated from Mechanic Arts High School. Dorraine married Vernon Ahl on February 15, 1947 in St. Paul. She worked as a bookkeeper for Eikill & Schilling LTD until her retirement in 1987.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary and its 55 Plus Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her friends, but most of all, loved spending time with her grandchildren. Dorraine had a great sense of humor and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Dorraine was lovingly cared for by her grandson, Ryan for the past two months.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and six sisters.

Dorraine is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Kenneth) McKowski of Duluth, and Nancy (Glen) Farb of St. Cloud, grandchildren, Kellie (Brian Elg, Jr.) McKowski, Ryan (Ashley Garcia-Kaspari) McKowski, both of Duluth, and Matthew Farb of St. Paul, and brother, Donald (Marlene) Weiss of Oakdale, MN, and special sisters-in-law, Ruth Weiss of St. Peter, MN and Eleanor Butler of St. Paul. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and close friends.

Visitation: 11:30 am, Saturday, May 25, 2013 until the 12:30 pm Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 East Fourth Street, Duluth. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home (218) 727-3555.
