Dr. George Louis Jennings, 44, died Thursday November 5th just shy of his 45 birthday on November 8th, in Duluth Minnesota after a 28 month struggle with glioblastoma stage four brain cancer. The third of four boys, George was born in Burlingame, California on November 8th, 1970 to Dr. Leonard Patrick Jennings and Mary Lou (Hagen) Jennings. George attended Our Lady of Angel's grade school in Burlingame California until the family moved to Alma, Michigan. In 1986, George's family moved to Stowe Vermont where George graduated high school in 1988 and attended Catholic University of America and graduated with a degree in bio chemical engineering in 1992. After graduation he went on to attend University of Vermont medical school graduating in 1996. After residency and working at a practice in Oregon, George decided to be closer to his family to work with his father at SMDC, in Hibbing Minnesota. George met Cindy Hart on New Year's Eve on 2002. His moves on the dance floor and his skills on the dodge ball court caught her eye. They later married on June 3rd 2006 in Hibbing, Minnesota. George settled down in Hermantown, MN with his wife Cindy and his four wonderful boys: Jacob, 8, Lenny, 7, Samuel, 5, and William, 3. George was a devout Catholic and volunteered his services as a physician to provide needed health care to those who couldn't afford it. For a few years, George also served as the assistant and head coach of the Hibbing High School soccer team. George had a zest for life, and it was shown at an early age. He starred in a community theater production, "Oliver" with the title role without any previous acting experience in 7th grade. The self-taught guitar player finished 3rd in a Bob Dylan contest in Hibbing, MN. The avid snowboarder had numerous athletic achievements, from batting a 1.000 in his first year at tee-ball, playing soccer at Catholic University, kayaking around Lake Superior, finishing the Birkebeiner cross country ski race several times, to finishing Grandma's Marathon. His true passion was his family. George relished the times he spent with his wife, Cindy and his kids. They hiked the Badlands, skied Big Sky, fished the lakes of Minnesota, and hit every water park known to man. George is survived by his wife, Cindy, his four children; Jacob, Lenny, Samuel, and William, his parents; Len and Mary Lou Jennings, and his three brothers, Len, Kevin, and Michael.
