Dr. Vivian Eleanor Georgesen, 93, of Peoria, AZ and Duluth, MN, passed away on Monday,
May 29, 2017 at the Harvard House of Care, Goodyear, AZ. Vivian was born December 26,
1923, the daughter of George and Luvise Georgesen and sister of Sigrid and Walter. Vivian
resided in Duluth during the summer months and at Casa Del Sol, Peoria, AZ during the winter
months for many years. She enjoyed spending time during the summer at the cabin at Maple
Lake.
Vivian was a graduate of Denfeld High School. She received her bachelor’s degree at St.
Scholastica, Duluth; her master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin, Superior and her
doctoral degree at the University of Northern Colorado. She taught Home Economics at Esko
High School, Denfeld High School and Washington Junior High. She also taught
Counseling/Guidance at the University of Wisconsin, Superior. A lifelong member of the
Salvation Army, she taught Sunday school at the Salvation Army as well as at the cabin at Maple
Lake. She volunteered at the Indian School in Peoria, AZ.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Walter Georgesen, and her sister,
Sigrid Georgesen. She is survived by her niece, Fay Kainz of Weaver, Alabama and her
nephews, David Georgesen of Weaver, Alabama and Russ (Mary) Georgesen of Goodyear, AZ.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3 at 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 215 S 27th
Avenue West, Duluth, MN, with Major Bill Cox officiating. Visitation will be from noon until
the 1 p.m. service. Burial at Bethany Cemetary. Funeral arrangements by Thompson Funeral
