Earl "Red" E. Ellison, 91, formerly of W Arrowhead Rd. died Sunday, March 6, 2016 in the Benedictine Health Center. Red was born August 25, 1924 in Duluth to Emil and Thora Ellison. He graduated from Duluth Central high School. He joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Radioman 3rd Class. He met and married the love of his life, Thelma Pederson and they were married on August 30, 1947 at Concordia Lutheran Church, in Superior.
Red worked as a marketing manager at National T, IGA and retired from Jubilee Foods. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, where he ran the sound system; he was a 31st Degree Mason at T.W. Hugo Masonic Lodge; was a Boy Scout troop leader; coached little league baseball; he was a ski jumper in his earlier years; enjoyed his cabin in Solon Springs;, where he was a member of the NW Wisconsin Cabin Cruisers; He loved to dance; he was a "Master Griller"; he loved watching his grand and great children's sports and Red was a care giver for many family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Thora; and his wife, Thelma, in 2010.
Red is survived by his daughter, Shari (Jay) Rud; son, Glen (Pam Ellison; grandchildren, Brian (Sue) Rud and their children, Kyle and Kirsten; Kelly (Dustin) Dierks and their children, Elizabeth, Alissa and Andrew; Nathan (Brittany) Ellison and their children, Lyla and Kinzley; Jessica (Kevin) Severson and their son Brayden.
Services will be held this summer. Entombment will be at Park Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty funeral Home, Duluth, (218) 727-3555.
