Edna Dean

EDNA E. (Sonstegard) DEAN, 78, passed away from natural causes Friday, October 11, 2013.
Edna was married in 1954 and, after several short stays elsewhere, became a long time resident of Duluth and a cherished member of her community. Although a homemaker until her children were grown, Edna became a valued employee of Minnesota Power, where she remained for more than a decade.
Edna was multi-talented and had a long relationship with the Ceramics Association, privately teaching first ceramics, then porcelain and china painting, in her home. Her exceptional talent earned her a segment on Accent North, as well as many awards. Edna had a full and rewarding life, enjoying many pastimes, including cooking, gardening, painting, friends and family.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gordon R. Dean. She is survived by her four children, Jeffery Dean, Lisa Trea (Pete), Jaclyn Dean and Susan Foucault (Kevin), 7 grandchildren, Bobbie Underthun (Ryan), Adam Trea, Mary Trea, Samuel Dean (Laura), Erynn Porter, Ellen Porter and Joseph Koupus and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Alton Sonstegard (Inga), Marion Dilley (Robert), Edith Jackson (Fred), Roger Sonstegard (Marlene), Judith Sonstegard and Lee Sonstegard, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was beloved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at noon Saturday, October 19, 2013, until the 1PM service at Dougherty Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St, 218-727-3555.
