Edna Leslie

Edna Leslie, 91, completed her journey home on June 26, 2017.  Edna was born November 16, 1925 in Duluth MN to Erik "Edward" and Beret (Solem) Anderson. She grew up in Rice Lake Township and graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1943. She received training and worked as a stenographer and bookkeeper, but her favorite job was as a homemaker raising her family.  Edna married Donald Leslie on November 29,1952 and they made their life long home in Duluth in the house Edna was born and raised. Edna loved caring for her family and was active as a den mother for cub scouts, girl scout leader and anything that involved her children as they were growing up. Edna and Don made sure they were present at as many special events as possible in their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives. Edna and Don enjoyed travelling, especially with their trips to Florida and everywhere else their adventures would take them.  Edna was an 11-year pancreatic cancer survivor. Her faith in Jesus always made her strong. She loved reading the Bible, memorizing Bible verses and sharing them with her family.  Edna is survived by her husband, Don, of almost 65 years of marriage; her children David (Shirl) Leslie of Superior, WI, Diane (Paul) Mathiason of Grand Forks, ND and Janet (Rollie) Everson of Proctor, MN; grandchildren Shawn (Katie) Everson, Stephanie (Jim) Nonnemacher, Tiffany (Mike) Gudden, Erik Mathiason and Laura Mathiason; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice (Kenneth) Pederson of Duluth MN.  The family would like to thank all the home aides who helped make it possible for Edna to stay in her home as long as she could.  Visitation will be 5-7PM, Friday, June 30, 2017 in the Dougherty Funeral Home 600 E 2" Street, Duluth, MN 55805, visitation will continue Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 10AM until the 11AM Funeral Service, in the Family of God Lutheran Church, 4097 Martin Rd, Duluth, MN 55803.
