Edward "Ed" James Wirtanen

Passed away on April 14, 2024 at the age of 76. He was born in Duluth on July 23, 1947 to Eino and Bernice Wirtanen. He graduated from Central High School in 1968. Ed was a proud Veteran and served as Security Police in the Airforce during Vietnam. He worked at Superwood as a maintenance welder for 34 years. He was a member of the Minnesota Street Rod Association. He loved his two classic cars and was looking forward to the car show season. Ed was a motorcycle guy, he loved his Harley. Ed had a great sense of humor and always had a good time. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and niece, Susanne Dickenson. He is survived by his life partner, Barb; sister, Jean Wick; nephews, Neil Dickenson, John and Ryan Felver; niece, Sharon Fox; and many other family members and friends.  A Graveside Service will be held on May 2, 2024 at 11:00am at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, 4777 Highway 53 Saginaw, MN 55779. Please arrive to the Cemetery by 10:45am. A Reception will follow at 12:30pm at American Legion Post 71 5814 Grand Ave, Duluth, MN 55807.
