Edward Stanley Kachinske, 95, of Hermantown, died Monday April 8, 2019 at Viewcrest Health Center. He was born on May 2, 1923 to Joseph and Anna (Filipiak) Kachinske in Moose Lake, MN. Ed was a WWII Marine Veteran and a Purple Heart Recipient. He had worked as a Journeyman Ironworker with the Ironworker Local #512. Ed married Frances Ann Meger on January 22, 1949 in Sturgeon Lake, MN. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and doing iron work in his garage.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife Frances; parents Joseph and Anna; daughter Barbara Norell; grandson Derek Bloch, granddaughter Marissa; brothers Carl, Louis and sister Margaret.
Ed is survived by sons Tim (Judith), Jeff (Julie), Kevin (Debra), and Duane (Carolyn); grandchildren: Edward, Adam, Brian, Amy, Kari, Kelly, Kyle, Daniel, Dustin, Michelle, Mackenzie, Heidi and Holly; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Clemence and sister Eva Holappa.
A Gathering of Family and Friends: 10 AM Wednesday, April 17, 2019 until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Rd. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Military Honors will be Accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard.
