Elizabeth Seitz

Elizabeth A. "Betsy" Seitz, 85, of South Ridge Rd. died Sunday, August 16, 2015 at The Lighthouse of Superior after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Betsy was born January 24, 1930 in Duluth to Harold and Elizabeth Haley. She graduated from Stanbrook Hall at St. Scholastica and did her undergraduate work at Rollins College in Florida and graduated from UMD. After college, Betsy worked for the Catholic Charities until marrying Gordy Seitz in Duluth on July 31, 1954.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, Junior League, Ridgeview and Northland Country Clubs. She volunteered at St. Mary's, Meals-On-Wheels, Holy Rosary and the Benedictine Health Center. Betsy enjoyed walking, golf, cooking, shopping, puzzles, entertaining and spending winters in Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Martha McDaniel and her grandson, Daniel King.
Betsy is survived by her husband, Gordy; children, Bob (Christine) Seitz, Nancy (Jerry) Dodd, Tom (Luona) Seitz, Mary King and Jan (Brent) Harris; grandchildren, Sarah, Laura, Katie, Karen, Jessica, Michael, Matt, Jack, Blair, Brylee, Jake, Anna, Haley, Jaime, Steven and Lindsey, and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday beginning at 10am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E 4th St. Duluth. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 525 S Lake Ave Suite 214 Duluth MN 55802.
