Elmer William Richard Hill, 85, of Duluth, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at home. He was born in Duluth April 24, 1929 to Elmer Richard and Edith (Johnson) Hill. Elmer married MaryAnn P. Hanlon on November 21, 1953 in Duluth. Elmer was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He retired from the City of Duluth Water & Gas Department after nearly 30 years of service. Elmer was a family man who loved his family and who was especially devoted to his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers. Elmer is survived by his wife of over 60 years, MaryAnn; four daughters: Eugenie (Wayne) Dunder, Cecilia Hill, Kathleen (Ronald Murray) Hern and Maureen (Steve) Wick, all of Duluth; his son, Charles (Elaine) Hill of London, Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother.
Visitation: 5-7pm Wednesday, June 11th. with wake prayers at 6:30pm at Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Thursday from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1419 St. Benedict Dr. Memorials directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church would be appreciated.
