Emma Marie Ranniker, 93, of Duluth, died Sunday July 29, 2018 at Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born in Red Lake Falls, MN on December 6, 1924 to David and Eva Cyr. Emma graduated from Chisholm High School. She married Frank Ranniker on September 26, 1944 in Chisholm. Emma worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a Registration Supervisor retiring in 1990 after 39 years of service. She was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, a member of the funeral lunch committee, and she took care of the table center pieces changing them out according to the seasons. Emma loved to sew, making American Girl Clothing and Baptismal gowns for her family, she also enjoyed painting with water colors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, son David, and sisters Margie Roscoe and Lauretta Kelly.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn (David) Poirier, grandson Brent (Gaew) Ranniker, brother Duane (Becky) Cyr, special nieces Lori Mart and Tammie Scott, and several additional nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. 1419 St. Benedict St. Duluth, MN 55811. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Benedict Catholic Church in Emma’s name.
