Ernest Schober, 93, of Duluth, passed away on Tuesday May 10, 2016 in Solvay Hospice House. He was born January 18, 1923 to Alfred and Lillian Schober in Orpund, Switzerland. Ernie served the US Marines proudly during active duty during WWII in the Pacific Arena, receiving the Bronze Star of Valor and a Purple Heart Medal. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Forestry and retired from the United States Soil Conservation Service. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, and VFW. Ernest enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cribbage, flower and vegetable gardening, traveling and he always enjoyed the company of family. All will miss his guidance and personality. Special thanks go out the untiring efforts of grand-daughter Sara Johnson and to the staff at Ecumen Lakeshore and Solvay Hospice House.
Ernest was preceded in death by wife Marjorie, daughter Susan Wisocki, son Richard Schober and parents Alfred and Lillian Schober.
Ernest is survived by his sisters Annie and Kathy, brother William, children Thomas (Irma), James (Becky) Daniel (Rosi) and Geoffrey, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday May 21, 2016 from 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Ellsing Chapel at Ecumen Lakeshore, 4002 London Road, Duluth, MN 55804.
