Esther Krovitz

January 11, 1928 — August 7, 2017

Esther Goldish Krovitz, 89, of Duluth, passed away peacefully with her family by her side August 7, 2017.

She was born in Duluth, January 11, 1928, to Captain SL and Hattie Goldish.

Esther had fond memories of Bellevue, Iowa, where her father managed the railroad; and she loved watching the trains.  Esther graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1945.  She was a lifelong member of Adas Israel Congregation. As a teen Esther worked behind the soda fountain at her uncle's pharmacy where her friends enjoyed hanging out.  While raising 5 children, she volunteered at various organizations, and later worked her way up at Lakeshore Lutheran Home, where she became buyer at the facility.  She had extraordinary crafting skills; knitting, embroidering, sewing, tailoring, and created her own line of jewelry that was wholesaled into various shops in the upper Midwest.  Esther enjoyed selling her wares at craft shows, along with attending and working at wholesale markets.  She had great times taking bus trips with her friends to the various casinos in Minnesota/Wisconsin and always enjoyed a good game of Mahjongg.  Esther also enjoyed baking, gardening and playing the piano.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice; and son-in-law, Tzeon Hamou.
