Eugene Prudhomme

October 10, 1948 — February 21, 2015

Eugene Prudhomme, 66, of Duluth died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, following a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
Eugene (Gene) was born October 10, 1948 in Duluth to Omer and Leona Prudhomme. He is a 1966 graduate of Duluth Cathedral High School, and later earned a bachelor's degree from St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. Gene married Pamela (Penny), on June 12, 1971. Gene held a variety of occupations over his lifetime. He first made his mark as a promising young mathematics teacher, before transitioning to the world of purchasing briefly for Glass Block, and providing decades of service to Minnesota Power.
Gene loved his family more than anything. He was an avid sports fan, and participated in softball, basketball, curling, golf, and just about anything else he was asked to try. He supported his children in any and all of their activities, and took an especially active interest in his granddaughters Aubree and Brooklyn.
Gene was a social butterfly with a tremendous sense of humor. He was the life of the party, even if that was not his intention. He looked for the good in everyone, which made it easy for all to see the good in him. He greeted everyone with a warm, generous smile and his compassion will be forever unmatched. He made the world a better place for those who knew him.
Gene was preceded in death by his father Omer.
Gene is survived by his wife Penny; his children Jill (Jim) Leste of Champlin, MN, Brian (Jen) Prudhomme of Duluth; his grandchildren Aubree and Brooklyn Leste; mother Leona Prudhomme; sisters Genevieve (Ken) Graves of Duluth, and Virginia (Pat) Silvers of San Jose, CA; brother David (Candy) Prudhomme of Bella Vista, AR; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Friends and family may gather Tuesday February 24, 2015 from 5:30PM until 7:30PM at St. Michael's Catholic Church where Mass of Christian Burial will also be held at 11AM Wednesday.
Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home Duluth 218-727-3555.
