Father Vincent Arimond

Father Vincent Healy Arimond, 98, died on July 12, 2019 at Edgewood Healthcare in Hermantown, MN.  Father Vincent was born in Duluth, MN on April 15, 1921 to George Vincent Arimond and Margaret Estelle Arimond (nee Healy). He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Duluth on June 4, 1955 by Bishop Thomas A. Welch at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Duluth.  Over the many years of his priestly ministry, Father Vince served parishes in the Duluth Diocese and served as a missionary priest in Peru, South America with the Society of St. James the Apostle for five years.  Fr. Vincent was Associate Pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Brainerd; Pastor of St. Michael's Church, Kerrick; St. Luke's Church, Sandstone and mission at Bruno; St. Rose Church, Proctor; St. Margaret Mary, Duluth; St. Joseph Church, Ball Club; St. Mary's Church, Deer River; St. Catherine's Chapel Squaw Lake and Good Shepherd, Duluth. He served as Senior Associate at Good Shepherd Church, Duluth and St. James Church, Duluth and retired on July 16, 1997.

Father Vincent, a WWII Navy veteran, also served as a Military Chaplain and as a chaplain for St. Ann’s Children’s Home, the Blue Army, and Civil Air Patrol.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and in-laws, Kathryn (Morgan Blankush), Raymond (Winnie), William (Jennie), Frances (Donald Pinther), niece Mary Kay Brown, nephews, Peter Arimond and John Blankush.

Father Arimond is survived by his sister Margaret Bujold, special nephew and godson, Timothy Vincent (Anne) Arimond, eighteen other nieces, nephews and their families.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 19, 2019 (10:00 AM CDT Visitation and 11:00 AM CDT Mass) at St. James Church in Duluth.

Visitation is scheduled for July 18, 2019 (5:00 PM CDT to 7:00 PM CDT) at St. James Church in Duluth.  Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
