Florence "Babe" Leone Lombardy Cherro, 93, of Duluth, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Benedictine Health Center. She was born to Pasquale (Peter) and Louise Leone Lombardy on November 2, 1920 in Duluth. She attended Duluth schools and graduated from Central High School in 1939. She was a beloved, generous soul with a marvelous sense of humor that always kept her family laughing. Her deep faith and strong spirit carried her through many of life's difficulties with a deep-seated courage. Babe was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; parents; brothers Ben, Anthony, Alfred, and Francis; and sisters Rose, Mary, Isabelle, and Helen. She is survived by her children, Sr. Claudia Cherro, OSB, Mary (Larry) Krieps, and Anthony (Molly) Cherro; grandchildren, Laura (Erik) Larson, Peter Krieps-Lombardi, and Katherine Cherro; great-grandchildren Noah and Emma Larson, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Sunday, February 9th. from 3-5 pm with wake prayers at 4:30 pm at Dougherty Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am, Monday, February 10th. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
