Frances [Nancy] Josephine Chart passed away at Marywood Assisted Living on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. She was born in Moore, WI on February 26, 1924 to Joseph and Senia Gates. She grew up in Upson, WI, graduated from Hurley High School and then attended Business College. Nancy moved to Long Beach, CA in 1942 where she married Marc Chart. They worked in California briefly before Marc signed up for the Army Air Corp. They were reassigned frequently throughout the U. S. while he was in flight training. Nancy was always proud that she used public transportation and gave herself only two days to find a new job at the next base, and always did. They also lived in Frankfurt, Germany for two years after the war before moving back to Minnesota where Marc attended Dental School. While they lived in the Twin Cities, during school, their son, Kim, was born. In 1953 they moved back to Duluth and started their new life. Nancy was active for years at Holy Rosary while Kim was in school and for years after in various circles along with helping with funerals there with Marc after he retired. She volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital for decades, many of her years in the gift shop, and was also active in the Northeast District Dental Auxiliary. Nancy loved to play bridge, riding her bike and entertaining friends. She and her family spent much time at Schultz Lake where they loved to garden, enjoy the lake in the summer and snowmobile in the winter. She and Marc also loved to fish out on Lake Superior. They traveled much in retirement and had 68 wonderful years together. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marc in 2010, a brother Ray Buccanero, a sister Barbra Brekke, and an infant sister Anne. Nancy is survived by her son Dr. Kim [Dede] Chart, Duluth, grandchildren Hilary Chart [Dr. Rasika Jayasekera], Edina; Anders [Dr. Puthida] Chart, [Blaine]; and Steven Stupak [Superior]. Great grandchildren Kallyann, Weston, Rohan, Marcus and great granddaughter to be born this fall. Two sisters Kay Stonemark [Duluth], and Marilyn [Ron] Johnson, [Joliet, IL], and brother Ronny Buccanero [Racine, WI]. The family would like to thank everyone at Westwood and Marywood for the wonderful care they have given Nancy while living there the last thirteen years.
