Francis Alfonsi
September 26, 1941 — February 8, 2013
Francis X. Alfonsi, age 71, of Proctor, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Benedictine Health Center, Duluth after a lengthy illness.
Francis was born September 26, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Xavier and Loretta (Cascanette) Alfonsi. He grew up in Duluth and graduated from Cathedral High School. He married Karen Dusek on November 25, 1967, in Floodwood, Minnesota. Francis enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially UMD Hockey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ted.
Francis is survived by his wife Karen, sons, Craig of Duluth and Keith (Marcy) of St. Paul, brother Don of Duluth, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East Second Street, Duluth.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Sandy Popham for her efforts at keeping Fran healthy for 15 years. In addition thanks go to Dr. Maddy and the Essentia Health Nephrology department and especially every nurse who provided Francis with such great care on his long journey.
