Francis E. Barnaby, 82, of Duluth, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. ^^Francis Edward Barnaby was born April 1, 1930 in Ironwood, Mich., the son of Frank L. and Kathryn (Jennings) Barnaby. ^^He grew up in Ironwood and graduated from St. Ambrose School and attended Gogebic Community College. He served in the Michigan National Guard. He married Lena Mosconi on June 9, 1956 in Montreal, Wis. The family moved to Duluth and Francis was the manager at OK Auto Parts for 43 years. ^^He was a member of Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, where he served as an usher for many years. Francis also belonged to St. Michael's Council of the Knights of Columbus, and the West Duluth Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed following his children's sporting events, fishing and camping, family get-togethers, and was an avid UMD Hockey fan. He also was a volunteer driver for St. Scholastica Monastery. ^^Francis was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Mary Jane Jones and Kathryn DeMario. ^^He is survived by his wife Lena "Lee" of Duluth; children, Dr. Frank (Jeanne) Barnaby of St. Cloud, Marie (Charles) Waugh of Champlin, Minn., and Michael (Renae) of Baxter, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Christine (Brad) Wiese, Kathryn Waugh, Tim (Brionna) Barnaby, Aubrey Barnaby, Caitlin, Kellie, and Mason Barnaby, and one great-grandchild, Abigail Wiese. ^^VISITATION: 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East Second Street, Duluth, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 in Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 East Fourth Street, Duluth. Burial at Calvary Cemetery Duluth. Memorials preferred to St. Scholastica Monastery or the Lake Superior Zoo. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home (218) 727-3555. ^^
