Frank W. Kovacevich, 85, of Duluth, went to be with the Lord on Thursday January 29, 2015 in Heritage Haven. He was born in Duluth on September 11, 1929 to Joseph and Marija Kovacevich. Frank was a Navy Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He taught 5th Grade at Stowe Elementary school for many years, where his students nicknamed him Mr. K. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and the Singing Slovenes. Frank enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycling, singing and dancing, and was an excellent artist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister Frances, brothers Matthew and Steven, and sisters Martha and Ann.
He is survived by his wife Hope, children Deborah Nelson, James (Annayea), Julianne (Steven) Wokowiak, and Mike (Tracy), grandchildren Sarah, Joseph, Timothy, Laura, James Jr., Zachary, and Krista, and great-grandchildren Chloe, Lilly, and Norah.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to everyone at Heritage Haven and St. Ann's for the love and support you gave to Dad. You were his second family and he loved you very much. Thank you also to Dr. Carlson and everyone at The Duluth Clinic West and to Dr. Galito and everyone at the VA Clinic.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 4, from 5PM to 7PM with 6:30PM Wake Prayers in Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10AM until the Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. 622 99th Ave. West, Duluth, 55808.
