Garnette Stolt

Garnette H. Stolt, 93, beloved wife of Harvey Stolt (Duluth), formerly of Baudette, MN and Winthrop, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 23, 2014. Garnette Hildur Ross was born along with her twin brother Garfield, on October 3, 1921 in New Ulm, MN to Edwin & Hildur Gustafson Ross.
Garnette graduated high school in St Peter, Minnesota in May, 1940. She then went on to Vocational School in Minneapolis to earn her LPN in June, 1942. Following her graduation she worked at Union Hospital in New Ulm, MN.
She married Harvey Stolt on November 5, 1944 in Bernadotte Lutheran church. Garnette became a farm wife, helping in a variety of ways. In 1948 they purchased a farm and moved to Alfsborg Township south of Winthrop in Sibley County, Minnesota. Garnette was active in Bernadotte Churchwomen and church council, Alfsborg Rural Welfare club and 4-H adult leader.
Garnette and Harvey farmed there for 30 years and in 1977, they sold their farm and retired to Baudette to spend more time fishing on Lake of the Woods. Together Garnette and Harvey enjoyed hosting many of their friends and family from southern Minnesota. Garnette and Harvey became members of Wabanica Lutheran Church. She was a member of the church's altar guild and the quilting group. She enjoyed braiding rugs, making quilts and making other crafts for her family. She enjoyed making miniature town buildings of plastic canvas to give to her family and friends for Christmas. In December 2010 Garnette and Harvey moved to Duluth to be closer to family making their home at Keystone Bluffs Assisted Living.
Garnette is survived by her husband of 70 years, Harvey; daughter Marjorie (Tom) Tri, Duluth; grandchildren Jonathan (Holly) Tri, of Cornelius, OR; Erin (Jon) Green, of Brooklyn Center, MN and Brian (Lindsey) Tri, of Eden Prairie, MN and great-grandchildren Hannah and Jason Tri, Olivia and Jack Green.
Funeral Service were held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Vineyard Church, 1533 Arrowhead Road, Duluth, MN 55811. Burial will be in Wabanica Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 East 2nd Street, Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555.
