Gene Louis Wuestneck, age 78, of Sauk Rapids, Minn, and formerly of Duluth, passed away peacefully at home with family and friends by his side. He was born in Duluth July 17, 1940 to Louis F. and Minnie (Kohler) Wuestneck. Gene attended St. Clement’s Catholic School and Church and was a 1959 graduate of Denfeld High School. He was a past member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Duluth, and in Sauk Rapids attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Gene was an Army and Army National Guard veteran. He sailed on the Great Lakes from 1959 until 1962. He was employed at Elliott’s Meat Company from 1962 until 1986. Following that, he was employed at the City of Duluth Public Works & Utilities Department for 16 years, retiring in July 2002. Gene married LoAnn Hall on September 2, 1977. They lived in Fort Myers, FL from 2002 until 2007 when they moved to Sauk Rapids, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters Eileen (Don) Dufek and Adele (John) Mikota. Gene is survived by his wife LoAnn (Hall) Wuestneck; three children; three grandchildren; and sister-in-law Susan K. Hall (Laureen “Mugs” McGinley) of Danbury, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: CentraCare Health HomeCare & Hospice, 1406 6th. Ave., N, St. Cloud, Minn 56303. VISITATION: Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service at Dougherty Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Sunrise Memorial Park, Hermantown.
