Glenn Charles Wittich, 81 of Duluth, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. He was born March 21, 1931 in Duluth, MN to Minnie and Charles Wittich and was a lifelong resident. He attended Central High School, and graduated in 1951. After school he joined the Air Force and spent four years serving his country.
On November 8, 1953 he married Norma Oyer in Longmont, CO. They moved back to Duluth where they raised three children; Bruce, Lynn and Carol. He worked a few months at Chung King, and then was hired by Northwestern Bell. He retired from US West (Northwestern Bell) after 37 years of service. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Glenn spent many days in his workshop. He did beautiful woodworking, making many treasured pieces for family members and the church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Hunting was the love of his life. He loved the outdoors, camping, hiking and bicycle riding. He was in a bowling league with the same team for 30 years. Through the years he and Norma traveled many miles in their travel trailer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Vernon, and his daughter Lynn Bergquist.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Norma and his two surviving children, Bruce (Susan) of Niwot, CO; Carol (Tim) Bell of Aurora, CO; his son in-law, Kim Bergquist of Duluth; his two grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, Josh Laird and Anna Bell from Aurora, CO; a great granddaughter, Kaylee Dunlap/Laird; his sister, Phyllis (Bob) DeRocher and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 in Concordia Lutheran Church, 2501 Woodland Avenue in Duluth. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
Memorials are preferred by Glenn's family.
Military honors accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.
