Gloria Marjorie (Holmes) Towle Parendo, 88, died peacefully on Saturday November 7, 2015 at the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 15, 1927 to Adolph and Amelia "Millie" Holmes in Duluth. Gloria grew up on South Lake Avenue where the Canal Park Lodge is now located. Her grandmother Katrina emigrated from Finland and opened a large boarding house where Gloria helped with cleaning, cooking, and meals. She also worked at the Lycem movie theater and Montgomery Wards. Gloria married her first husband Charles in 1946 and they had two sons. Charles passed away in 1956 and she married Michael J. Parendo in 1958 and they had two children. Gloria was a past member of the Mt. Olive English Lutheran Church for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Charles S. Towle, daughter Gaynell Parendo in 2007, grandson Eric Towle in 1974, granddaughters Victoria Towle in 1989, Callie Mae Towle in 2006 and Isabelle Towle in 2009, sisters Lorraine, Viola Jakubek, and a brother Arnold Holmes.

She is survived by her husband Michael J. Parendo, sons Dean Wayne (Linda Kay) Towle, Charles S. Towle Jr., and Gary (Lizabeth) Parendo, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chris Jensen for Gloria's wonderful care. Gloria will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday November 21, 2015 from 10AM until the 11AM Funeral Service in Mt. Olive English Lutheran Church. 2012 E. Superior St, Duluth, MN 55812.
