Gustaf E. “Gus” Peterson, 76, of Duluth, passed away on Wednesday October 23, 2024. He was born on June 11, 1948, to Justus and Anna Peterson in Duluth. He graduated from Duluth East High School in 1966. In 1967 he married his wife Margaret “Peggy” and they were just shy of celebrating 57 years of marriage. Gus served in the US Army from 1968-1970 with the 1st Infantry in Vietnam, and the 7th Infantry in South Korea. He worked at MnDOT for 44 years and retired as a Project Financial Manager. Gus was involved in the Duluth Amateur Hockey Association for many years, coaching and being one of the directors of the “Spirit of Duluth” tournaments. He enjoyed watching both his children and grandchildren participate in sports. Gus really enjoyed many outdoor activities.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson Jayce Constant.
Gus is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Tom (significant other, Heather White) and David (Heather); grandchildren, Derek (Chassie), Tyler, Alec, Alayna, and Matthew; and a great-grandson, Jackson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday Nov. 2, 2024, from 11AM until the Noon Mass in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 4901 E. Superior St., Duluth, MN 55804.
