Halina Strugala, 61, of Duluth, died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday February 15, 2018. She was born on June 11, 1956 in Ichwy, Estonia to Jan and Eugenia Baranowski. Halina married Adam Strugala in Poland in May of 1981, and together they escaped to an Austrian refugee camp in 1982 and immigrated to the United States in 1983. She had worked at the College of St. Scholastica, and at JCPenny as a sales clerk. Halina was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She loved to bake, traveling, going to museums, working with people and was especially fond of children.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband Adam, daughters Isabella and Maggie, mother Eugenia (Stanislaw) Laszczowski, and her sister Teresa (Artur) Mielczarek.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 20, 2018 from 5PM to 7PM with a 6:30PM Rosary Recitation at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. Visitation will continue Wednesday February 21, 2018 from 9:30AM until the 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church 325 E. 3rd St., Duluth, MN 55805. Burial will be in Polish Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. 218-727-3555.
