Harold Dean Anderson age 95 of Duluth passed away peacefully at home on December 17,2024 in the loving care of his family. He was born in Duluth on April 20, 1929 to parents, Gregor and Lela (Gardner) Anderson.
An extremely hard worker, Harold worked in construction for most of his life. He worked for several construction companies, then started with Johnson Brothers Highway and Heavy in 1961 until his retirement in 1990. Since 1955 he was a proud member of Local Labor Union 1091. Personally, he helped build houses for himself and his family. There was nothing he could not build, fix, maintain, repair or figure out. He had a love for motorsports, specifically dirt track stock car racing, and snowmobiling. He was instrumental in establishing the Duluth Snowmobile trails and was a member of the Scenic City Snow Drifters Club. He found great solace in the outdoors, fishing and pontooning around Rice Lake. One of his greatest passions was dancing. That is where he met his wife, Nancy; and later in life, after Nancy passed, his ladyfriend, Grace. He was a member of the Rice Lake Community Club and the Rice Lake Fire Department. Above all, Harold will be remembered as a devoted family man. Even with his sometimes long work hours and projects at home, he always found time for his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; siblings, Carl, David, Carol Prudhome, Lyle, Patrick, Johnny; and half-brother, Roy Gardner. He is survived by children, Dean (Becky), Denise (Kent), and Darrel; grandchildren, Jolene, Greg, Derek (Shannan), Jordan; great-grandchildren, Carter, Aza, Lexi, Lela, Bria, and Clyde; sister-in-law, Carol; and many extended family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 27th at 11:30 am with a visitation starting at 10:30 am at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E Second Street, Duluth, MN.
