Helen Vuchenos

Helen J. Vuchenos, 71, of Duluth died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Essentia/St. Mary’s after a short illness.  Helen was born February 14, 1946 in Duluth to James and Mary Vuchenos.  Her family moved to Toivola-Meadowlands area where she graduated from Toivola-Meadowlands High School.  After she received her LPN training, she worked at Essentia/St. Mary’s hospital, retiring after 43 years.

Helen was a very active member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she enjoyed volunteering.  She also loved spending time with her family and friends, and caring for her pets.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Helen is survived by her brother, John Vuchenos; her sister, Barbara (William) Chalstrom; nephew,Troy Chalstrom (Betty), Samantha, Jack;
niece Andrea (Larry) Johnson, Caleb, Jacob, Aaron and Danielle; nephew, Jason Chalstrom (Erin), Grayson and Makenna, and the many loving nieces and nephews from her extended family.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 18 at Dougherty Funeral Home between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Friday, May 19 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2430 W 3rd St. Duluth starting at 10:00 am, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.  Burial is at Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth.
