Henry "Hank" Robert Willemarck, 82, was born June 22nd, 1931 to Henry Sr. and Mary (Mystein) Willemarck in Lakewood Township Duluth, MN. and died Saturday, April 26th, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Hank grew up in Lakewood Township with 7 siblings. Hank attended Lakewood schools. He then started driving trucks up the North Shore hauling pulp. He was drafted to serve in the Combat Infantry branch of the Army. Due to his excellent truck driving capabilities he drove truck to the front line for 2 years in the Korean War.
He was united in marriage to Olga "Esther" Stromberg on May 19th, 1956 in Duluth. He lived his entire married life on the scenic North Shore (Duluth Township), until a recent illness forced him to leave his home. Hank enjoyed piloting small aircraft, taking fishing trips to Canada with his family or friends, being a Volunteer Fire Fighter for 40 years at the Clifton Fire Hall. He was owner of London Road Mobil and Lester Park Shell Station where he worked hard to provide for his family until the late 1960's. He worked for his brother George at Willemarck Masonry. Hank retired in 1992 as a Mechanic and Operating Engineer for Holm Construction.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Florence Hansen, Edward, Robert and George Willemarck
Hank is lovingly survived by his wife of 58 years, Olga "Esther Willemarck; daughter Shelley (Lance) Berg of Cannon Falls, MN; sons: Steve (Dawn), and Jeff (Kim) Willemarck, both of Duluth; grandchildren: Justin (Michelle), Brittany Berg of Cannon Falls; Carrie Denney of Proctor, MN, Lindsey, Brandon, Cody and Kennedy Willemarck of Duluth; his 1st. great-granddaughter due in June; siblings Leo of Arizona, Marie Paulson of Duluth and Jeanne (Tom) Seigel of Oak Park, IL; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Hank will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren for overly buttered and salted popcorn, cribbage games, fishing trips, camping, being picked up after school to hang out, and for his love. His personality and wit lives in his family he leaves behind.
An immediate family service was held crypt-side on Wednesday, April 30th. per Henry's wishes. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, June 22nd, 2014 from 12 - 5 pm at the Lakewood Town Hall. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 727-3555.
