Herbert (Herbie) Gerber, of Duluth, passed away July 27th 2013 at Heritage Haven Care Facility.
Herb was born in Duluth on August 4, 1921 to William and Christine (Lamont) Gerber, and attended Denfeld High School. He worked on the Ore Boats, served his country in Italy during World War II, and was a 50 year member of the Lake Superior Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Add Temple Shrine, and a active member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Herb worked at ARCO Coffee for many years, where he met and married the love of his life Gayle (Bauer) on June, 22 1946. They raised two daughters together.
Herb was known as the "coffee man" to many of his clients and friends. Herb loved people and spending time with his family, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He always made time for them with special visits and goodies. Family was the most important part of his life.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents; wife Gayle; brothers, William, Robert, Victor; sisters Daisy, and Violet.
Herb is survived by his daughters, Robin (Ron) Anderson and Sandy (Don) Uttley; sister, Audrey Cloutier; grandchildren, Rhonda (Pat) Olson, Raemi (Chris) Hendrickson, Ryan (Joy Westbrook) Anderson, Brian Uttley, Betsy Uttley, Brooke (Jesse) Appleby; and six great grandchildren. The Family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Heritage Heaven.
Service: Thursday, August 15th Visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. with a 10:30 a.m. Masonic Service and Memorial Service starting 11:00 a.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4430 McCulloch St., Rev. Kari L. Jutila officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home 218-727-3555
