Herbert Swanson

Herbert A. Swanson, 86 long time Park Point Resident died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital, with his family by his side. Herb was born September 16, 1929 in Duluth to Herbert and Alice Swanson. He graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1947. He married Elizabeth Priley in Duluth on March 24, 1951 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Herb was a letter carrier for the USPS retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Andrew's By the Lake Episcopal Church, Italian American Club, All American Club, Harbor Master's Choral and the Lake Avenue Loafers. Herb enjoyed Shooting Pool, Bowling, Fishing and most of all, spending time with his family. You were Herb's friend when he met you, he was "happy go lucky" and was always smiling. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Alice and his great granddaughter, Harlow Swanson-Nino.
Herb is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Bette"; children, Jeffery (Janet) and their children, Andrew, Shelby and Brady; Robert (Jennifer) and Robert's children, Brad (Kelly) and Amy (Jason); Tim; Tom (Sheila) and their children, Savannah, Danielle, Patrick and Caitlin; Lizabeth (Ross) Autio and their children, Mitchell, Emily and Jared; Great grandchildren, Ryley, Fynn and Cecilia; sister in law, Lucille Priley and his dog, Sophie.
Herb's family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke's ICU, for their loving care of Herb.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Saturday from 10am to the 11am services at St. Andrew's By the Lake Episcopal Church, 2802 Minnesota Ave. Duluth, MN.
