Hoi Quan Tran, 84, of Duluth, MN passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born September 15th, 1939, to Huong Quan Tran and Ai Loan Thi Bui in Ben Tre, Vietnam. In 1962 he married his wife, Hoa Thi Mai, when they started their family.
In Vietnam, Hoi worked as a policeman, until moving to the United States in 2001. After a short stint in Hibbing, Hoi set root in Duluth, MN, with family gradually moving over from Vietnam to join him. He now has family all over the United States and in Vietnam.
Hoi will be remembered for his love of travel, utilizing the many parks in the area, spending time with his large family, and most importantly, driving around with his wife.
Hoi is preceded in death by his parents, Huong and Ai Loan; and sister, Suong Tran.
He is survived by his wife, Hoa Thi Mai; siblings; Hanh Tran, Hai Tran, Ha Tran, Tam Tran, Quan Tran, Tan Tran, Tuyet Tran, Hang Tran; children, Thi My Dung Tran, Minh Quang Tran, Thanh Khac Tran, and Ngoc Tran; grandchildren, Tan Tran, Binh Thanh Pham, Thi My Duyen Pham, Van Thanh Tran, Phung Quang Tran; and many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation on Tuesday, January 2nd from 12p-2p at Dougherty Funeral Home and will continue at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea from 9a-10a on Wednesday, January 3rd at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea, followed by funeral mass at 10am.
The family requests no donations.
