Jack Hallfielder passed away at home Saturday, June 2, 2012.Jack was born in Virginia, Minn., Nov. 12, 1932. Jack served in the National Guard.Jack worked in the automobile industry most of his life, working both as a mechanic and in management and sales for Arrowhead Chevrolet and Kolar Auto.After retiring from the car business, Jack continued working during his later years for the Duluth Public Schools. He enjoyed attending all of the Duluth East basketball games , working with children with special needs, and teaching drivers? education.Jack had a passion for woodworking and possessed many building skills, building his own cabin, which he enjoyed for many years on the Whiteface Reservoir.Jack was a devoted husband, enjoyed and loved by his children and many grandchildren.Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and John Hallfielder, and one brother, Carl.Jack is survived by his three sisters Kathryn, Susan and Lois; a sister-in-law, Alice; his loving wife of 35 years, Dolores; sons Greg (Jennifer), Gary, and Jeff Hallfielder, stepdaughters Sue (Scott) Preston and Jean (Steve) L?Abbe; stepson Joe (Mitzi) Nowak, and his always special grandchildren: nine granddaughters, one grandson, and two great-granddaughters.Visitation: 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, until the 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road, Duluth. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home (218) 727-3555.
