Jack Targgart, 90, passed away on March 1, 2016 at his daughter's home in Cary, North Carolina. Jack was born in Chesterton, Indiana to the late John and Bessie R. Mitzner Targgart.
He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He and Mickey relocated to Minnesota in 1960 and resided at Pike Lake. Many knew Jack as their meat cutter that worked at Paulson's Super Valu. Here he treated every stranger as a friend and every friend as part of his family. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved any dog. He was a devoted Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed making frequent visits to the casino.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mickey and his sisters Pearl Saffran and Mae Brooks.
He is survived by his daughter Sandy Cerretti, his "favorite son-in-law" Fred Cerretti, grandson Michael, granddaughter Lauren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jack's family wants to express a special thank you to Mark and Sue Rauschenfels, Paul Vortman and, all of Jack's neighbors and friends who supported his wishes in supporting him in spending his final years at his home.
On Thursday, March 17, 2016 Jack's family will receive friends at 10:00am at the Dougherty Funeral Home. Please come dressed in casual attire, in your favorite sweatshirt, t-shirt, lounging pants, or jeans. As a memorial to Jack, we plan to re-tell stories that he has shared with many friends and family members that he can no longer share. It will be one heck of a day celebrating his life with those he has loved along the way.
