James Edward Conant MD, 72, died Friday January 24, 2014 in Cloquet, MN

Jim was born in Wausau, Wl on November 12, 1941

He graduated high school from Menominee, Wl in 1960 as the President of the class he attended college at Michigan State in Lansing and earned a degree in Chemistry, he then graduated from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1968 after graduating he went on to 1 yr of family practice in Northern California, 2 years in the Army as a Captain and Doctor, 1 year in Korea and 1 year surgical residency at UCLA Medical Center. Jim then, attended University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and Studied 1 year of Internal Medicine and 3 years Anesthesia training. Jim then practiced medicine in Logan, UT at Logan Regional Medicine Center 1976-1982, at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN 1982-1995, was the chief of Anesthesia at St. Mary's in 1990. He then Practiced at Mercy Medical Center in Williston, ND 1995-1997, Lakewalk Surgery Center in Duluth, MN, and Fairlight Medical Imaging in Williston, ND, 2006, retiring in January 2013.
Jim married his first wife Nancy Elliot Conant on December 26, 1964 in Detroit Ml, to this union their son Robert was born on April 29, 1968
July 1st, 1989 married Mary Chartier, separated for time but have been together the last nine years living in Williston ND. They recently moved to Cloquet. MN
Jim was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading about the Civil War and World War II. He was also an avid bird watcher. He loved to pheasant hunt in western North Dakota with his dogs Felix and Jerry. He thoroughly enjoyed the Art of Medicine and felt fortunate to have graduated from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He and Mary traveled extensively around the globe.

Survived by, life companion, Mary Chartier, Cloquet, MN; former wife, Nancy Conant Los Osos CA; son, Robert Lawrence Conant of Rompoc CA; sister, Lucy (Tom) Griffiths of Mattawan, Ml; sister, Mary Mosqueda of Duluth, MN; brother, Harry A. Conant of East Lansing Ml; Thorn and Stephanie Chartier of Duluth, MN, children, Ryan and Jennifer Chartier of Las Vegas, NV, and their children, Fletcher and Theodore; Dan and Katie Danielson, and children, Chloe, Quinn, and Dru of Cloquet, MN; Aaron and Lonquentha Chartier of Germantown, Maryland; Martha Chartier of Duluth, MN; and faithful dog Jerry.

A Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church Williston, ND Monday February 17, 2014 at 1pm, a mass of the Christian Burial later in the spring in Duluth, MN
