James Bernard Kmiech 70, of Duluth, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at Chris Jensen on, Thursday, August 28, 2014. James was born in Duluth, July 16, 1944, to Joseph and Louise Kmiech.
James grew up in Duluth and graduated from Central Senior High School in 1962, he then went on to graduate from F.I. Salter with a degree in Auto/Diesel Mechanics. James started his career at EM Trucks where he worked for 19 A½ years; he then worked for Twin Ports Trucking Equipment for 3 years; he then worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for St Louis County Pike Lake Tool House, where he retired in 2010.
James was "Mr. Fix It" who enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his Harley, family vacations in his Winnebago, and volunteering on the Civil Defense/Police Reserve for 20 plus years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
James is survived by, loving wife of 50 plus years, Lois; children John (Lynda), Kathy (Steven) Kuehling, Daniel (Kari); granddaughters, Misty, Sara, and Krystal; grandson, David; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Jr.; sister, Margaret (David) Breitbach; numerous, nieces, nephews, family, and friends; and Ben the Wonder Dog.
Visitation will be from 5-7PM, Friday, September 5, 2014, visitation will continue Saturday from 10AM till the start to the service beginning at 11AM, in the Dougherty Funeral Home, Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in James' name to the American Diabetes Association.
