James H. Ryan

Passed away on November 17, 2024 at the age of 98. He was born to James and Loaine Ryan and was raised in the Minnesota Northwoods. He worked many jobs as a young man throughout the Twin Cities and Duluth. He was a proud Veteran of the Navy. Jim loved spending time at the family cabin the “Hilton in the Pines” where he would garden and duck hunt. He loved music, especially big band era tunes. He is preceded in death by his parents, and the mother of his children, Dorothy (Gray/Ryan) Bunn. Survived by his wife, Mary Ryan; children, Julie A. Smith, and James J. (Christine) Ryan; grandchildren, Jacob T. (Breann) Smith, Daniel J. (Cassie) Smith and James C. (Allysa) Ryan; and numerous loving great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00pm at Dougherty Funeral Home on Thursday, November 21, 2024 with a Visitation beginning at 11:00am. Burial at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Duluth.
