James A. Schramek, 80, of Duluth, died Saturday, March 3, 2012. Jim was born on March 11, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wis., to John and Therese Schramek. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953. He married Ruth J. Wright on Oct. 27, 1956. Jim enjoyed a career in sales. He was a shoe buyer for Gimbel Bros., Taubies Womens Wear, Johnson Hills, and Wahls department stores. He finished his career as an account executive for KDAH TV. He always told his children, Youll never work a day in your life as long as you are doing what you love. He loved to cook, fish, and watch CNN and NASCAR. Jim was also a very devoted Green Bay Packer fan. Jim was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and volunteered at its Used-A-Bit Shop. He was also a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth; his children, Lisa (Greg) Moir of Duluth, Leslie Crabtree of St. Paul, John (Julie) Schramek of Austin, Minn., and Charles (Susan) Schramek of Stockbridge, Ga.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Schultz of Milwaukee, Wis.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Jan Coon of Souix City, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Marys Medical Center SICU and Hospice Unit for their outstanding care and compassion. VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Friday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michaels Catholic Church.
