James Slattery

James D. (Papa) Slattery, 91, of Duluth, moved on to be with the loved ones who left before him on Saturday morning, March 31, 2018.  He was born in Duluth on December 17, 1926 to Thomas A. and Mary Clotilda (Collins) Slattery.  Jim graduated from Cathedral High School in 1945 and was in the Army from 1945-1946.  He married Colleen Hauch in 1950.  They moved to Park Point in 1951, and Jim resided there until shortly before his death.  He was the office manager at Zenith Spring Company and retired in 1993 after 39 years of service.  He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea.  Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen, of 47 years in 1998; his son Timothy in 2003; three sisters; and two brothers.  Jim is survived by his sons:  Thomas (Jan), Terry (Karen); daughter-in-law Sue (Tim) Slattery; seven grandchildren:  Paul (Kristyn) Jennifer (Jason), James, Brandon, Courtney (Jon), Alan (Kaitlin) and Kinzie; and eight great-grandchildren:  Jaidyn, Gaven, Savanna, Mason, Emily, Emmanual, Lillian and Harrison.  Papa loved his family and life on Park Point.  He enjoyed gardening and birds, a good Irish hymn, Finnegans, and his daily coffee group.  May you shine down on all of us until we meet again.

Visitation:  Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 9:30 am until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 325 E.
