James “Jim” Adrian Lindberg, 89, Coquet, formerly of Duluth, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Lighthouse of Cloquet, after a long illness. Jim was born in Jamestown, ND on April 21, 1927 to Carl and Inga (Anderson) Lindberg, and he grew up in Dilworth, MN, where he graduated from High School. He joined the US army, serving in both WW II and Korea. After Korea, Jim returned to Fargo Moorhead area, and started driving for Schmidt Truck Lines. He married Marlys E. Muehring, May 2, 1948 in Fargo.
They moved to Duluth to raise their family. He retired from Midwest Motor Freight, after driving for 47 years, having driven over two million miles. After retiring, Jim worked with David Dowd at Jarvi-Dowd and when David came to Dougherty Funeral Home, Jim came with him, and we were very happy he did.
He was a member of Mount Olive English Lutheran Church and St. Matthew’s Lutheran in Esko, having moved to Cloquet in 2011.
He was a member of the Teamster’s retirees; he and Marlys enjoyed being snowbirds, wintering in Apache Junction, AZ. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Inga his wife, Marlys in 2014.
Jim is survived by his sons, Richard (Maxine), John (Barb) and Jim.
Brother, Curtis Lindberg, Worthington, OH. Grandchildren, Henry, Margaret, Mathew, Steven, Chad and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 10am to the 11am services at Mount Olive English Lutheran church, 2012 E Superior St. Duluth. Burial with military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor guard at Sunrise Memorial Park.
Memorials are preferred and may be directed to Mount Olive English Lutheran Church or St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 4 Elizabeth Ave, Esko, MN.
