Jana Holmgren

Jana Nicole Holmgren, 39 of Duluth, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Essentia St. Mary’s after a short illness, with her family by her side.  Jana was born October 16, 1978 in Duluth, she is the beloved daughter of Nancy and Jim Holmgren.  She graduated from Duluth Central and attended Tulane University.  She worked as a project coordinator for her father’s company, Northland Constructors.  Jana was baptized and confirmed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.  She was a member of Animal Allies and animal rescues; she enjoyed tennis, fishing in Canada, reading, traveling with family and playing trivia games.  Once Jana met you, you were her friend.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Iver and Shirley Amundsen and grandfathers, Kenny Holmgren and Bob Heise and her Godmother, Cindy Stauber.

Jana is survived by her parents, Nancy and Jim; her brother and wife, Jason and Serena and their son, Rohan; grandmother, Connie Heise; aunts and uncles, Jack and Lynn, Chris and Larry, Larry and Linda, Chuck and Sheila, Lance, Patty and Patti; Godfather, Larry Stauber; cousins, Aaron (Ali), Sean (Amy), Kara (Mike), Leana (Dan), Sommer (Jon), Chance (Katie), Mike and Lexi; Serena’s family, Ajay, Sanjaya and Ayesha (Bemen) ; her boxer, “Sophie” and many friends.   Her warm friendly smile will be greatly missed by all.

A Celebration of Jana’s life will be April 11 ^th from 4pm to 7pm with a short service at 6pm in the Harborside Ballroom at the DECC.
