Jane Bruen

October 12, 1913 — December 16, 2013

Jane Evelyn Jepson Bruen, 100, died peacefully on Sunday, February 16th at St Luke’s Hospice after a brief illness. She lived a very rich and full life. Jane was born in 1913 in the small mining village of Marting, West Virginia. She grew up in nearby Ashland, Kentucky where she met and married the love of her life, John Bruen. They were married on May 20th, 1938 and then moved to the Hunter’s Park neighborhood of Duluth where they raised their family. Jane often referred to her career as a Domestic Engineer. She took great pride in her home and her chef quality meals. Her other interests included reading, watching baseball and old movies, entertaining and spending quality time with friends and family. Jane will long be remembered for her quick wit and kind, loving disposition. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (also great and great great) and good friend to all who shared her life. While we mourn her death, we rejoice in her love of life knowing her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family, her friends and her community. Jane was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Evelyn Jepson; her four siblings; beloved husband John and her daughter Mary. Jane is survived by her daughters and their families: Sally Ryan; Ann (Al) Stead; Lynn Bruen(Kirk Bratrud ); four grandchildren- Jeff Knuckey & Mary Ryan(George Gohlike), Chris Slocum, Elana (George) Ramsay; great-grand child - Christina Knuckey-Ragan; and great-great grandchildren - Hailey & Nathan Ragan.
