Jay B. Gorsuch, age 74, of Swatara, MN passed away peacefully with “his girls” and Steve by his side Friday, May 24, 2019 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. He was born March 9, 1945 in Grand Rapids, MN to Gail and Evelyn (Angermo) Gorsuch. Jay was a 1963 graduate of Aitkin High School. Jay married Beverly Hilton on October 11, 1979 in Mibank, SD. He was a machinist all his life, lastly working with his BFF Dan at Gintech Tool for 22 years. He was a dedicated member of the Moose Willow Sportman’s Club acting as secretary/treasurer for 36 years. He had a very active role in getting the shooting range up and running and enjoyed all of his time that he spent there. He loved to shoot trap, fishing with Bev every chance they had, camping, hunting with the Boys at the Shack, bonfires and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Jay is survived by his loving wife Beverly of 39 years; his pride and joy, daughter Denise (his “son-in-law” Steve Beneke) of Outing, MN; a special granddaughter Lindsey Wald; his brothers Garry (Carol), Conrad (Deloris), Tom (Cathy), Leland and Kevin (Cheryl); his favorite mother-in-law Carolyn Hilton; several nieces , nephews and other family. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 12 noon at the Swatara Community Center. A private family gathering to bury his ashes will be at a later date at Macville Cemetery in Haypoint, MN. Arrangements made by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 218-727-3555.
