Jean Vivian (Lewis) Johnson, 74, of Duluth, passed into eternal life on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn. A lifelong Duluth resident, she was born May 18, 1943 to Walter and Florence (Stonestrom) Lewis. She was a 1961 graduate of Duluth East High School and attended UMD. Jean married Harlan Johnson in Duluth in 1964. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. In her younger years, she had worked as a camp counselor and at the Nelson Pharmacy. Jean was a lifetime member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, taking part in their women’s activities. She was a past Sunday school teacher, and a member of Lydia Circle. She also did volunteer work at Lakeside Elementary School. She enjoyed road trips, watercolor painting, canoe trips, fishing, cross country skiing, flower gardening, sewing and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents and younger sister Joy Lewis. Jean is survived by her husband Harlan, sons Kevin Mark (Susan) Johnson of Oak Grove, Minn, Greg Steven Johnson of Maple Grove, Minn; sisters Janet Lewis of Duluth and Julie (Mike) Dresen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; granddaughter Annabeth Johnson; step-granddaughter Jessica Maynor; nieces and nephews Faye, Cheryl, Craig, Dale, Wendy Tracy, Holly, Amy, Scott and Brad; and several grand nieces and nephews. The family extends grateful thanks to staff members at Essentia Health in Duluth and Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for their care and kindness over the years. A GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 2 PM until the 2:30 PM memorial service at Lakeside Presbyterian Church.
