Jean Kaufer

Jean Kaufer, 90 years old of Duluth, MN passed away peacefully in the comfort of her daughter’s home on September 8, 2017.

Jean was born October 6th, 1926 in Hibbing, MN to Adrian and Hilda Boudreau. Jean grew up in Keewatin, MN. After graduating from high

school Jean attended Miss Wood’s Kindergarten and Primary Training School. Jean taught in Bemidji and Excelsior. Jean met her husband Bud Kaufer in Bemidji while attending

daily mass. They were married June 12th, 1951 in Keewatin, MN. Jean and Bud moved to Lakeside in 1954. Jean remained a longtime Lakeside resident where she was an active member at  St. Michaels Church and School for 50+ years. Jean was active member of Northern Pine Girl Scout Council. Jean enjoyed spending her summers at the cabin at Swan Lake in Penguilly with family and friends. Family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. John VanEtta for his outstanding care and sense of humor and to Roger and LaVonne Kurrle for their tireless support and neighborly love.  Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband  Bud, daughter Karen Cassidy, and beloved brother Bob. She is survived by her children Kathleen (Bruce) Halverson, Bob (Marge) Kaufer, and Mark (Kay) Kaufer. Six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 12th from 5pm to 7pm with a 6:30 P.M. Rosary in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East 2nd street Duluth, MN 55805. Visitation will continue Wednesday September 13th from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. Mass of Christian burial in St. Michaels Catholic Church. 4901 East Superior Street Duluth, MN 55804.
