Jean Kauppi
May 19, 1953 — June 21, 2016
Jean Louise Kauppi, 63, of Gilbert, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis MN, due to complications from heart surgery.
She was born May 19, 1953 to Walter A. and Lorraine H. (Johnson) Miskowski. Jean graduated from Hermantown High School in 1971. She then attended nursing school at St. Luke’s Hospital and became a registered nurse. In her nursing career, she worked at the Virginia Hospital, Miller-Dwan Medical Center Rehab, and most recently 26 years at the Dialysis Unit in Eveleth, MN. Her career ended after 41 years when she happily retired in February, 2015. On September 25, 1976 she married her best friend and the love of her life, Ernest “Ernie” Duane Kauppi. Together they enjoyed many wonderful traveling experiences. They also loved spending time in Las Vegas, NV and had purchased a home there in the spring of 2014, where many happy days were spent enjoying the warm weather and taking sightseeing trips.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John, David, Mark and many relatives.
Jean will be lovingly missed by her husband Ernest, brother Gary (Sheryl) of Duluth, and many special friends and relatives.
Visitation Monday June 27, 2016, 10:00am until the 11:00am Funeral Service at Grace Lutheran Church, 5454 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown MN. Burial will be in the Biwabik Township Cemetery.
